Summer it may be, but fashion is not on holiday. Between ad campaigns overflowing our Instagram feeds and new season collections springing up like mushrooms, it can all feel a bit overwhelming. For us Tenners, this surge is making our lives easier as there’s plenty to think and write about. It’s time to say goodbye to 70% off sales and welcome the fresh wave of fashions finding their way to the top of our shopping lists. These are the (full-priced) collabs and special collections dropping this summer.
LIAM HODGES x ELLESSE
Planning a mountain getaway to the Alps this August? This is the time to refresh your wardrobe with some fashionable slope-ready gear. British designer Liam Hodges teamed up with sports heritage brand Ellesse on a ski-wear collection, launching online and in selected stores on August 1st. Following up on an experimental collab with Alex Mullins, Ellesse employed Hodges to create 13 pieces (ready-to-wear and two different shoe silhouettes) inspired by the Italian brand’s archive, visually focusing on a print of microscopically blown-out ice crystals in a perfect shade of blue. It’s all sporty, cazh and action friendly – give us a full look and we’ll be slaloming down that hill.
The Liam Hodges x Ellesse collection is dropping online and in selected stores on August 16th.
CHOPOVA LOWENA
Cultural differences inspire creativity – especially when it comes to the world of Emma Chopova and Laura Lowena. The duo launched their brand Chopova Lowena after graduating from Central Saint Martins last year, and instantly garnered fans of their colourful skirts. Combining the visual identity of Scottish kilts and the multicoloured traditional Bulgarian fabrics embellished with hiking gear, Chopova Lowena have a clear winner on their hands. The team at Matches Fashion was smart enough to get their hands on the brand first as they supported the launch of the duo’s AW19 collection with an exclusive capsule selection. No need to wait for the colder days – these skirts will also make great beach cover ups.
The Chopova Lowena AW19 capsule collection is available exclusively from Matches Fashion.
TONY HAWK for BROWNS
Put your hands up if you were one of those kids religiously playing Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 who always struggled to pull off even the 360 flip? Just me? Well, however good (or bad) you were at the video game, there’s something for you at Browns Fashion. Upping the ante on new season drops, they have the UK exclusive on nine pieces from the legendary skateboarder’s fashion debut. The whole collection is an effortless merging of the old and the new, taking cues from classic skate uniforms and elevating them with the prints of Anton Corbijn’s photographs. Bound to sell out quick, the Tony Hawk Signature Line is the hottest property in town.
The Tony Hawk Signature Line is available exclusively from Browns Fashion.
CHRISTOPHER KANE
Let’s talk about sex baby. And who better to talk to than Christopher Kane? The British designer has been slowly establishing himself as the sexpert of the fashion industry for several seasons now and he’s not stopping anytime soon. Launching this Wednesday, July 24th, at his London flagship, Kane has created a capsule collection of everyday objects inspired by the positive mantra from his AW18 collection. “More Joy,” is what we want, and now can finally introduce to our lives via these pieces. Fans, phone cases, beach towels, caps, tees… Kane has embellished these handy gadgets with words we should all utilise more on a daily basis. If you sometime struggle with realising how special you are, consider getting a tote bag spelling it out. The only way is up.
‘The More Joy Summer Store’ will take place from July 24th until September 1st at the Christopher Kane London flagship store at 6-7 Mount Street, as well as online.
LI-NING x RANDOM IDENTITIES
No need to be jealous of the kids running around with their kicks lit up anymore. Stefano Pilati is now making an adult-sized and decidedly chicer version of the childhood classic. The Berlin-based designer behind Random Identities joined arms with Li-Ning on the Chinese sportswear giant’s first ever shoe collaboration. Remaking their Aurora lo-top trail running boot in a triple-black colourway, Pilati added the functional element of a built-in LED light with three different illumination speeds. Making sure you’re not too lost and that your standard’s aren’t too low, the trainers will be your best friend on your next trip to Berghain. The worst part is – you’ll have to wait until October 1st to shop for these. Yes, that’s technically not summer, but who cares. A girl can dream…
