SIMONE ROCHA: INTERVIEW OF THE LVMH YOUNG DESIGNERS PRIZE FINALIST
“I have two words,” says Simone, “modern and femininity.” The designer gives a perfect summation of her own collection. Sidetracked slightly by the Irishwoman’s honeyed voice, the only word that sprung to my mind was ‘pretty’. The pearls, the coated lace, the perspex heels – it’s just so pretty, no? Simone is among twelve designers shortlisted for the first LVMH Young Designers Prize. The winner is to be selected by a fearsome jury that includes Marc Jacobs, Karl Lagerfeld, Raf Simons and Riccardo Tisci and will be announced on May 28th.
