Feeling festive is so last year. Literally. It’s time to push the Quality Street to the back of the cupboard and start munching on chocolate-covered strawberries as Valentine’s Day creeps from around the corner. A little sudden, we know, but according to Rihanna, it’s never too early to start getting a little frisky. Savage X Fenty is bringing in the new decade with a collection of valentine’s treats made in collaboration with New York designer Adam Selman. The pair joined forces back in 2013 when Selman co-designed Rihanna’s River Island range, going on to dress the songstress in the notorious naked dress at the 2014 CFDA awards. So it’s fitting then that Selman has become the first designer to collaborate with the lingerie brand. “So many of my collections have been influenced and inspired by lingerie detailing and fabrics, so I jumped at the chance when Rihanna approached me to collaborate with Savage X Fenty,” explains Selman. “Creating sexy pieces that empower and make you feel confident is at the core of everything I do, that is something Rihanna and I have always connected over.”
The supersensual collection sees cupless bras, strappy thongs and strategically placed oversized satin bows, all trimmed in red and robin-egg blue lace. If you’re more into a kinkier aesthetic opposed to the girl next door look, twinsets come in black and berry red vinyl foil spandex – equipped with garter belts and heart-shaped lockets that also act as a zipper. And if you want to skip underwear altogether, there’s nipple pasties, harnesses and even a bedazzled whip available to purchase. In the campaign, former 10 cover stars Adesuwa, Joan Smalls and Paloma Elsesser can be seen flaunting the sexy separates alongside Fiffany Luu in the collection’s campaign. Dripping in bisexual lighting, the set is dotted with abandoned pieces of underwear, neon signs, and pillows plastered with nothing but sweet nothings.
