Our beloved Mr Mouret is turning twenty. Well, his eponymous label is at least, and we’re all for measuring age in fashion years. To celebrate this very special achievement, he and Net-a-Porter are casting their minds back to a simpler time, namely “The Years Before The Galaxy,” remembering Roland’s beautiful creations that pre-dated his seismic Galaxy dress moment. Together with Net-a-Porter’s Retail Fashion Director, Lisa Aiken, Roland has drawn upon his archive from those early years between 2001 – 2005. The new collection, which once again demonstrates Roland’s intuitive understanding of the female body and mastery of draping, consists of eleven styles, including dresses, tops, trousers, a skirt and a jumpsuit, all of which have been re-visited with an invigorated palette of Persian red, teal, black and ice silver.
“It was really exciting revisiting pieces that I created in those years before the success of the Galaxy dress,” said Roland of the new collection. “I was back then so much younger of course, part of the London Fashion week, and learning about British quirkiness. Now after all this time, showing in London for my 20th anniversary and being invited to do an exclusive capsule collection for NAP, we come full circle. This collection, in new fabrics and colours gives my customers a chance to own some re-imagined classic pieces and an insight to where it all began.”
