There was a photo of a pile of books on the back of the Preen press release, Potions & Spells, The Incidental Tarot, Skinhead, Creep Girls are the Cutest, which should give you a pretty good indication of what this was about. And what does a witchy pagan, goth girl look like in the world of Preen? A little grungy actually. Black and frayed. Drainpipe denim, cut open at the knee and trimmed with lace ruffles. In fact this was all ruffled to within an inch of it’s life. Tumbling, sheer layers, with handkerchief hems, printed with pagan stars, bright flannel tartans, made of chiffon, dried flowers on faces and stomped onto the runway. There was an end of the party feel to the dresses. As if they’d been deflated. Imagine an 80’s party dress with all the air sucked out, a little rumpled. Always the sign of a good party.
