Imagine, if you will, a comic book where all the characters are decked out in head-to-toe Prada. Quite a fab, non? Continuing the “graphic novel” theme from the Spring 2018 mens and womenswear shows, the latest campaign stars up-and-coming actor Joe Alwyn photographed by Willy Vanderperre as a postmodern Prada hero. Saving the world from bad fashions perhaps? One would hope. But since it’s Prada we know it’s probably something deeper than that, but we’re not really clever enough to say much more so let’s leave it at that. The domed glass cupola and ironwork struts of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Prada’s home town of Milan serve as a graphic background to the campaign, further expanding the Prada comic-book world. Joe is decked out in a full nylon look, the fabric that made Prada the brand it is today. It feels very uniform and is making us think of a member of Ten HQ, Mr Garth Spencer, whose own uniform often includes a nylon Prada track pant. He’ll be besides himself when he sees this.
