Ports 1961: Ready-to-wear SS17

An explosion of stripes, a celebration of colour. Well there really is no other way to sum up today’s Port’s 1961 show. A rainbow of stripes? Works too I suppose.  At least three quarters of the collection was riddled with them. Not in a diseased way, more a every possible surface covered in them way. They appeared in long vertical lines of blue and white, green and white, yellow, over masculine separates. Think oversized shirts with split sleeves, allowing a flash of inner arm whilst creating a weird flappy effect, not dissimilar to that of a cape. They were sewn together in blocks, like a striped, disjointed patchwork to create tunics, and jackets which when worn over trousers had the effect of being layered yet not. Long sporty dresses of ribbed knit popped with lines of sunglasses necessary brightness. Luckily for us, unlike with a solar eclipse, looking directly at this won’t blind you.
