This ain’t just any old Palace drop. The London born-and-bred skatewear brand is linking up with legendary denim dons Evisu for the third and final time. If you haven’t been abreast with the Evisu revival that’s been picking up steam for the past few years, you’ll probably remember them from the 90s when everyone had that emblematic squiggle that looks like a slanted “M” painted onto their bums.
The lads at Palace elevated iconic Evisu silhouettes this time around, amplifying jackets, jeans and knits with cherry blossom embroidery, patchwork pockets and a cross-over logo to boot. Key pieces include the type one denim jacket and five pocket denim styles, also appearing in camo denim, alongside a hooded sweat with twill appliques, embroidered trucker hats and engineered t-shirts with cut and sew Evisu logos or its classic heart emblem. The collab even sees a 100 percent lambswool cowichan knit cardigan elevated from the Japanese raw denim-wear specialists’ archive that, without an inkling of a doubt, will be flying off the e-shelves in mere seconds.
Following on from the pair’s previous link-ups, Palace has also produced its final part in the Palace Evisu film trilogy. The short but epic flick follows Palace pro skateboarders Rory Milanes and Charlie Birch as well as some full-blown legends of British club culture – DJ Anz, legendary Grime MC D Double E and the hugely influential Heartless Crew – as they embark on a time-travelling dream journey deep into the frenetic, neon bowls of a nightclub. It’s an affectionate homage to the imperative part Evisu played in London’s electrifying late 90s and early noughties club scene.
The balmy collab is launching in stores and online April 14, so don’t sleep on it and get your reminders set cause if you’re lucky enough to get your calloused hands on some Palace Evisu clobber, you’ll be the coolest kid in the club.
