Olivier Theyskens: Ready-To- Wear SS19

A dark kind of romance, almost vampiric in its core. In 20 years he’s been showing collections, Olivier Theyskens has establishes his own aesthetic quite clearly. When you see a dress coming down the street, you will know it’s a Theyskens. Whether it’s his work at Rochas, Nina Ricci, Theory or his own brand, Olivier always kept the high craftsmanship and the nostalgic inspirations behind his feminine, dusky designs, making his women look like they are walking in  search of a different world. And with SS19, this quest continues. Now inspired by the female figures of German artist Hans Bellmer, Olivier both printed his art and reformed the sensual, visually confusing figures seen in the works. Sensual without a fault, and layering multiple silhouettes atop each other. “Militant romance,” is how the show notes described this look. And if this is what militant romance looks like, we’re ready to enlist.
