What’s cooler than cool? Coach partnering up with A Bathing Ape (BAPE), that’s what. It’s the meeting of two greats: America’s original leatherwear house and Japan’s streetwear pioneers, joining forces on a collaboration that is bound to gather queues down the street upon its release. Bape’s ape head logo merges with Coach’s signature pattern to create a terrific monogram which covers leather puffas and hoodies. There’s also a selection of purses, wallets and the Coach Academy bags which come in rainbow, khaki, and camouflage jacquard.
One of Bape’s most iconic staples, the Bapesta trainer, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. A cause for celebration, the conjoined monogram now coats the shoe, finished with pattern leather accents in purple, red and a range of gorgeous blues. Taking the campaign to the streets, New York photographer Quil Lemons photographs model and songwriter Kōki in Shibuya, Tokyo, as well as rising acting talent Quincy Brown in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We don’t know what we’re going to try and nab first. One of the terrific purses maybe? But we also do need a new hoodie… We’re practically spoilt for choice.
