You can always rely on Jeremy Scott to play out a theme. And play it out he did. The inspiration? That American institution of the car wash. Which was also the soundtrack – Rose Royce’s song of the same name provided the musical accompaniment. Or, you may be more familiar with the Christina Aguilera version, featuring Missy Elliot, the theme song of hit 2004 movie, Shark Tale. A classic. The clothes also hit the brief, veering from construction mini boiler suits to Chanel-esque twin sets, ending up at their a logical conclusion – Binx Walton walking out dressed as those whirring cloth tassels of your local supermarket car wash. These were then refigured in feathers and hot pink fur, all by way of a riff on retro cleaning products and the Powerpuff Girls. Which shouldn’t fit together – but somehow always does. It doesn’t do to rationalise. Scott doesn’t, so why should we?
