We’ve always known Jeremy Scott has a knack for bringing his wildly witty, pop-coloured and sometimes cartoonish creations to life. Just look at these pumps; Moschino’s latest It-kicks are a wearable take on a pretty pink wading bird with wings. Sculpted in patent leather with an inflatable flamingo figurehead curling up from the curved toe and a high-octane, transparent heel, these tropical beauties will have you feeling like a fashion girlie in Alice’s Wonderland.
They first debuted in September, waltzing across Moschino’s spring/summer 2023 catwalk with all the grace of their animate twins. Paired with a lustrous pink peplum cocktail dress and a blow-up clutch, the model didn’t just have flamingos on her feet, she had a full-on flamingo pool floaty wrapped around her waist – now that’s camp. As for the rest of the collection, the fun didn’t stop there: suits had inflatable lapels, Jackie Kennedy style pencil dresses sported rubber ring hems, sunhats and scrunchies were puffed up and perfect for poolside partying. The whole fling was like a flashback to playing Polly Pockets in our girlhood bedrooms in 2003. Weird, wonderful and whimsical, Moschino wants you to think (flamingo) pink.
