What watch are you wearing?
A Rolex Day-Date, reference 18039, featuring a factory diamond string dial with sapphire hour markers.
Tell us about it.
Day-Dates are my favourite. I love knowing that I can look at my watch and know the day and date: it is such a classy touch. This one is particularly special.
How did you come to own it?
My friends and I have a vintage watch business called Very Special. After learning how to source watches from my partners Juan and Dza, I did some research, and this one eventually came my way.
What’s the story behind it?
I had a similar watch in yellow gold, which also had a string dial but with emerald hour markers. I found myself more interested in low-key precious metals. I mentioned to Juan and Dza that I wanted a Day-Date in white gold. We began sharing inspiration and scavenging the internet. I found this one in Italy, bought it and had a friend pick it up and bring it back to New York.

What do you love about it and why is it your favourite?
I love the subtle patina on the dial and that the hour markers are set on the outside. It is my favourite because I have yet to see another exactly like it.
When do you wear it and what do you wear it with?
I wear it all the time, and I generally wear it on a leather strap from Jean Rousseau. A little more low-key.
What would be a dream watch for you to own?
So many! But as of right now, it would definitely be the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar in platinum with a mother-of-pearl dial. A perfect watch.
