How does one celebrate its 70th birthday? With an epic selection of tees, of course. To mark Max Mara’s 70th year, the Italian house has launched seven special edition T-shirts – one for every year the house has been on earth – featuring artwork from artists that have helped make Max Mara the household name it is today.
Together to celebrate an icon, William Wegman’s insanely cute Weimaraner dogs appear alongside illustrator François Berthoud’s block prints. Brian Grimwood takes us to the deep ocean with his nautical print, whilst photographer Valery Katsuba dedicates her piece to classical ballet. There’s also Brigitte Niedermair, who photographs the brand’s classic teddy coat (our personal fave), and Erberto Carboni, whose work reminds us what it feels like to fall in love with art again. “These images swirl in a continuous dance between the past, present and future,” the brand states.
Max Mara’s designs are meant for today’s most powerful individuals, recognised for the brand’s use of the most luxurious designs and fabrics. These tees are no different; crafted from pure cotton jersey and designed to enhance each individual artwork.
“The T-shirt is not just a simple crew neck top with short sleeves and straight cut, it’s a ‘statement-garment’,” states the brand. “It respects, reveals (and strengthens) the identity of the wearer and is a metaphor for the Max Mara fashion ethos over the last 70 years.”
