We love young design talent here at Ten Towers, it really is the blood that keeps us youthful, so the LVMH prize is always a treat for us – showcasing our favourite young talent as well introducing us to new ones we haven’t fan-girled over yet. The eight finalists got in front of a pretty major panel of esteemed judges that included Ten faves Karl Lagerfeld, Nicolas Ghesquiere and Phoebe Philo. Phoebe was sporting a new cropped, chin-length pixie do which excited us – but we digress – this isn’t about Ms.Philo’s haircut… No, this is about Marine Serre being named the winner of the 2017 LVMH Prize, and only a year after graduating that’s not a bad start to her clearly budding career. The French-Belgian born designer who studied at La Cambre Mode(s) Belgian Fashion Design Academy will be taking home 300,000 Euros and a year of personalised technical and financial support from LVMH. The special prize was awarded to Japanese designer Kozaburo Akasaka, but the prizes didn’t stop there, in addition to the two main prizes, three graduate designers were also awarded 10,000 Euros and a year placement within a LVMH design team. Those winners include Robert Wallace (Celine), Maija Mero (Kenzo) and Mariam Khatia Mazmishvilli (Louis Vuitton). A huge congratulations to all of the winners and finalists – we can’t wait to see what you create next.
