On Monday, months of speculation finally came to an end. Jonathan Anderson, who has helmed Loewe for the past 11 years, transforming it from a slept-on leather-focused house to a bonafide fash favourite, announced he was stepping down from his position as creative director. With his next move yet to be announced, fans of the designer can catch their breath and reflect on his accomplishments throughout his tenure. And what better way to do that than flicking through the glossy pages of the newly released monograph, Crafted World: Jonathan Anderson’s Loewe?
Spanning a hefty 636 pages, the book charts Anderson’s most revered runways, from his SS15 womenswear show up until his SS25 menswear catwalk, as well as campaigns lensed by the likes of Steven Meisel and David Sims and the designer’s collaborations with artists like Lynda Benglis and Richard Hawkins.
Giving a sneak peek behind the scenes of some of the creative director’s greatest hits, the book emphasises the perfect balance Anderson struck between art, craft and design while at the helm. The book is covered by an image of a giant pumpkin, produced by the artist Anthea Hamilton for the house’s AW22 show and campaign. With a foreword from author Zadie Smith, the book also includes a long-form conversation between Anderson and long-term collaborator and stylist Benjamin Bruno and a section dedicated to key artistic collabs.
Loewe will deliver the book enclosed in a custom-made box, with the cover embossed with a copper iteration of its anagram symbol. Pre-order opens March 21 on the house’s website (although make sure you pre-register), with the official launch coming March 27. A beautiful homage to one of contemporary fashion’s greats, it’s not one to miss out on.
