One in, one out. In what must be one of the briefest interregnums and most seamless passing of batons, Mr Kim Jones has been announced as heir to the throne of Dior Homme, following Kris Van Assche’s triumphant eleven year reign. Big shoes indeed, but no doubt Mr Jones will fill them out nicely as Artistic Director, not that, it should be noted, we have any knowledge regarding the size of Kim’s feet, but as far as the size of his design talent is concerned – we can confirm it’s bloody massive. Setting out his vision for the brand on Instagram this morning, Mr Jones announced, “I am deeply honoured to join the house of Dior, a symbol of the ultimate elegance. I am committed to create a modern and innovative male silhouette built upon the unique legacy of the House”. Hear, hear. We are naturally huge fans of Kim and his extraordinary tenure at Louis Vuitton, and now, as he takes the reins of another Parisian behemoth, we are hugely excited about how his creative vision will play out in clothing form. With his first day in the role coming on the 1st April, he is set to reveal his debut collection this June. Summer truly can’t come soon enough.
