John Alexander Skelton Revealed As The V&A’s Next Fashion In Motion Designer

SkeltonThe V&A’s Fashion In Motion series has, over the past decade, proven as reliable a barometer as anything of the industry’s most promising talent. Ignoring for one moment the super star alumni of this wonderful initiative, the Alexander McQueens and Yohji Yamamotos, the series has in the past five years seen the work ofGrace Wales Bonner, Meadham Kirchoff and Molly Goddard grace its marble corridors. This time, the honour falls to John Alexander Skelton, the CSM graduate whose Dickensian silhouettes and artisanal looks have garnered global attention at his London shows. Take his latest Menswear outing earlier this year for instance, a brilliantly intelligent and haunting exploration of 19th century folk theatre and Medieval British pagan ritual, produced with recycled and re-appropriated fabrics. We couldn’t be more chuffed about the prospect of not having to wait until the Fall menswear season to see his work again, instead, we’ll only have to hold out a matter of weeks, when he arrives in South Ken on the 23rd March.

John Alexander Skelton’s show will take place on Friday 23th March, with free tickets available for purchase from Monday 12th March.
