Damn you, Jonathan Anderson. Just as I got over my hangover after celebrating all the wins Phoebe Waller-Bridge and her gang swooped at Sunday night’s Emmy Awards, there you go and give me another reason to “YAAAAS!” and snap my fingers with a glass of bubbly. Jodie Comer – yes, Villanelle herself – has gone from being one of the most talented faces on TV to an Emmy laureate and the face of Loewe in under 48 hours. But don’t you dare assume this isn just an overnight success story. She’s been honing in her craft for years, and has been carving a British-with-a-twist personal style ever since Killing Eve premiered, with the help of her stylist Elizabeth Saltzman. And yes, I did hyperventilate when she brushed my shoulder dressed in a checked blazer at the opening of Casa Loewe back in April.
As every season, Jonathan Anderson previewed his upcoming collection with three images. For SS20, it’s Jodie Comer photographed by Steven Meisel, a trio of Sac Lazo Mini bags and “A Show of Hands,” another photograph by Meisel, this one featuring a set of nails even Cardi B would be envy of, stretching green slime. No garment is visible in either of those images, so guessing what we’re in for the season will be quite difficult. But while we speculate, there’s a video of two minutes and 11 seconds of Jodie Comer repeating the brand’s name 36 times (yes, we counted), while she gives every emotion on the spectrum. Can someone get this girl an Oscar already?
The Loewe SS20 show will take place on Friday, September 27th at 9.30am in Paris.
