J.W.Anderson: Menswear SS17

“Are you sitting comfortably? Then let us begin”. And so begun J.W.Anderson’s Spring/Summer 2017 show. Just like a story. And not just any story – Peter and the Wolf specifically. Very apt for a collection which felt like it had a childlike quality. Like a child playing dress up. Check the oversized sweaters with elongated, floor skimming sleeves. And who did he want to be when he grew up? An aviation pilot apparently – he had the goggles to prove it. Sensible choice. But that’s where sensibility ended. He was a mummy’s boy after all. Clad in magenta and purple, carrying her handbag and wearing her tunics. Nothing wrong with that. Pink makes the boys (or girls) wink. The message was clear though. No matter who you’ve grown up to be it’s never too late to release your inner child. And what better message on a rainy Sunday morning than that?
