A Look Inside Grammy-Nominated Musician Coco Jones’ ‘What I Didn’t Tell You’ European Tour

Since releasing her album What I Didn’t Tell You earlier this year, soulful songbird Coco Jones – real name Courtney Michaela Jones – has been nominated for whopping five Grammy awards (we’ll see if she wins come February). Right now, she’s on the last leg of her EU tour. From Disney Channel prodigy, to glittering global star, Jones has set herself apart from the expectation placed on child-stars and has blossomed into a performer in her own right. Taking her tunes from London to Paris and finishing in Amsterdam tonight at Paradiso, Jones’ background may be all-American, but her future is global.

Kicking off her European performances at the aptly name Camden venue Koko, the lights were dimmed and a dreamlike haze settled across the audience. On December 4, Coco graced that iconic London stage and showcased what could only be described as a masterclass in blending modern sounds with classic RnB. “I felt really excited about performing in London. I love the accents and the culture, and so having fans there, I was really excited to give them a show worth waiting for,” Coco tells 10.

While London absolutely wanted to keep Jones tightly in its grip, it was only fair to the let the city of Paris in on some of her vocal goodness. Performing at the renowned Bataclan venue in the French capital, the show footage, re-posted by Jones on her social media, encapsulated exactly what a we’ve come to expect from a Coco Jones show. Vibrant, full of life and energy both on-stage and off-stage, Jones truly glittered as she swayed her hips in front of a truly adoring audience.

Speaking on the setlist, she says, “You can expect a dynamic range of emotions throughout the set list and the production. I wanna take my audience on a journey where they feel all the feels.” For attendees, feels were certainly felt. Take it from an Instagram story the singer posted which showed a heartfelt moment as her fans shed a few tears at her poignant performance.

When asked about her pre-show rituals Jones tells us that she’s “probably gonna watch one Beyonce video, just to remind [her]self what entertainment looks like.” As pre-show rituals go, Jones’ has proven to work; after her performance in London the Kiko club took to Instagram to applaud the “R&B powerhouse” for a performance that “captivated the audience from start to finish.”

With regards to Jones’ looks for the shows, she’s sported some sensual, tailored two-pieces speckled with star-worthy glitter. Her Parisian look was something straight out of a Y2K dream, with a bejewelled bra-top and glorious furry trousers – Jones definitely knows how to lock into that early noughts RnB look. “My looks for my shows are centred around the theme of the album. What I Didn’t Tell You was a very sultry project, and I like my outfits to resemble that world.”

For all our European guys, gays and girlies, Jones is performing tonight, December 7, at Paradiso, Amsterdam. But if you can’t make it out, or you happened to have missed out on her short, but sweet, visit to our side of the Atlantic, don’t fret, because when Ten asks Jones what the future holds, she tells us, “taking over the world in 2024, that’s the goal.”
