Ten does Chanel. Also known as Ten’s adventures in Chanel-land. Or more simply – we go to a preview of Chanel’s new exhibition, Mademoiselle Privé at London’s Saatchi Gallery. Which was a very pleasant way to spend a Monday morning. And what of the exhibition? Well, it was the visual feast you would expect – a sensorial experience, if you will – a true immersion into the house of Chanel. Like descending into a bathtub filled only with Chanel No. 5. There was a recreation of Coco Chanel’s staircase, a giant diamond necklace spinning in a cage and displays about the life of Coco that came to life as you held your iPhone upon them. Because yes, your iPhone has added another notch on to its belt – tour guide. Isn’t it clever! But for those not ready to descend into the digital world just yet, there was plenty of physical Chanel action – a room full of delicate Haute Couture gowns, a French jardin and a selection of impressive looking jewels from 1932. And, ever wondered what the ghost of Coco Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld might chat about? Well, no longer – they’ve made a video imagining. The model Jamie Bochert, stood behind us, let out a howl of laughter – so that must mean it was good.
Mademoiselle Privé will run at the Saatchi Gallery from October 13th – November 1st, 2015. It’s free!
