Hood By Air: AW16 Menswear

Where else to descend to on a Monday morning than into Hood By Air’s smoke-filled, post-apocalyptic lair? Let’s be honest, it’s how we’re all feeling. Sunlight hurts our delicate weekend-damaged eyes. But in amongst the smog their are are joys to behold – as evidenced by the pictures above, just surfaced after an iPhone ban at the show in Paris last week – bad boys in puffas, the proportions maxed-up, knee-high heeled boots, a t-shirt emblazoned with “American Psycho”. Perfect gear for a moody Monday. And a boy in fishnet tights moment. Which we’re into. Because gender’s just a construct, innit. NBD. But despite the dystopian environs, there was also a couture feel to proceedings – HBA did treck all the way from New York to Paris to show on the Sunday, where menswear clashes with Haute Couture, after all – its influence found in trailing skirt-like trains, touches of delicate tailoring, a wealth and excess of cloth that has long defined the traditional Parisian houses. “I think we’re ready for a men’s couture moment,” Shayne told . Who are we to disagree?
