In a sea of sportswear and casual dressing, there is Haider Ackermann. He stands for cut, purity of line and a tailored sensibility. He also shows his women’s and men’s line together creating a sublime androgynous whole. Through a smoky catwalk they came, men and women dressed in lean dogtooth suiting and Cuban heeled black boots. Some cuts were skinny, some more slouchy, but all had a languid sense of ease. Haider might focus on tailoring but he’s not trussed up. There was a lightness to the silhouettes. Men and women both wore crisp shirts with laser cut lattice sleeves – perhaps a tribute to Azzedine Alaïa who, like Ackerman, was a designer who inspired a true following.
