Haider Ackermann: Ready-to-wear AW16

Bobby Vinton once crooned about someone wearing blue velvet – and while we didn’t spot any blue in Haider Ackermann’s winter show, this fuzzy-wuzzy offering had pretty much every other colour velour under the sun. Maybe Ackermann was attracted to its tactile quality, encouraging him to peach fuzz over everything from his signature skinny trousers to draped jackets and thigh-high slit evening gowns. It had a touchy feely quality that made Ackermann’s sumptuous colour palette (this round, marmalade orange, Schiaparelli pink and a changeante shade of olive) truly sing. A series of tops with ruffles exploding across the ribcage felt like a new and exciting departure, a hint perhaps of ideas to come in the slowly-evolving but ever-enticing oeuvre of Mr Ackermann.
