Gucci Is Going Fur Free

This just in. Gucci has gone fur free! Yes, in news announced late last night, the house’s CEO Marco Bizzarri announced that, starting with their SS18 collection, the Italian house will be fur no more.

“Gucci will no longer use, promote or publicise animal fur beginning with its Spring/Summer 2018 collection. As a commitment and thanks to a long term partnership with LAV (an Italian animal rights organisation) and The Humane Society, Gucci joins the Fur Free Alliance, which focuses on the deprivation and cruelty suffered by fur bearing animals both in wild trapping and industrial fur farming,” Marco said in a statement.

Gucci’s news follows last year’s announcement that their fellow Italians, the house of Armani, would no longer be using fur in their collections. Both hope other big-name designers will follow suit, joining the long list of brands now committed to being fur free.

It’s a furmageddon (and no bad thing, we say).
