The season’s campaigns are out and we’re going to say that none (so far) are quite as breathtaking than Alessandro Michele’s latest. Flipping the Gucci idea that being interesting is the new sexy; where decadent and lavish looks don’t seem to be out of place in the future and where, in comparison, everything modern and simple just looks bland and pedestrian.
Being a sci-fi horror fan myself I can see the appeal of escapism. Everyone hates the mundaneness of the real world. And with Mr. Michele, that brave new world doesn’t actually seem that scary. Using the photographic and directorial powers of Glen Luchford, the pair bring several retro sci-fi themes scenes together to create a fizzy futuristic fantasy filled with Orion green aliens and flying saucers – the fantasy completed with the forces of master talents Paul Hanlon on hair and Yadim Carranza on make-up.
Call it an outer-worldly experience through intergalactic scenes – teleporting young fans directly into store what they can shop to their fantasies delight. Or at least till they reach mom’s credit limit on the Amex.
