Givenchy: Ready-To-Wear AW24

Feminine sensuality was the name of the game for Givenchy’s AW24 collection. The first womenswear show for the house following Matthew Williams’ departure in December, the 44-look offering, designed by Givenchy’s studio team, featured sumptuous outerwear and show-stopping gowns, punctuated with a healthy helping of chunky knitwear and structured blazers. Inspired by the house’s founder, Hubert de Givenchy, the garments were constructed with Paris’ ever-enduring allure in mind.

Drawing from a distinctly cinematic and dusky palette of black, navy and grey, the looks were kept flirtatious and daring with the occasional pop of deep red, mint and electric blue. Silhouettes were sensual, with basques, draping and plunging necklines appearing throughout. A delicacy was interwoven through fabrics and embellishments, with slip-like dresses and nipple-baring long sleeves taking their form in translucent mesh, whilst a few show stopping jackets floated down the runway covered in feathers. Trousers were wide-legged and slinky, taking their inspiration from shapes found in the house’s haute couture archive. This was a display of what Givenchy does best, quintessential, Parisian elegance, and marked a brilliant fresh start for the maison’s yet-to-be-announced new creative director.
