Maarten Van Der Horst

So the 90’s doesn’t seem to have been fully rinsed dry by young London designers, especially at Fashion East where 2 out of the 3 shows had an especially nostalgic vibe. Maarten Van Der Horst’s brilliant high shine tailoring reminded us of pop duo Shampoo, who once sang ‘Uh oh, we’re in trouble’, and we’re most certain those bum skimming bodies, and barely there pleated skirts, would lead to just that on a night down your local. Meanwhile Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida’s grungey distressed denims, were a little more seasonally appropriate, their shoes and torn knee high boots, almost sending us five fingered under the cover of all the backstage madness. Damn those pesky, well briefed dressers!
