Josh O’Connor Becomes a Desert Trooper Eye/Loewe/Nature

The pandemic may have put all your travel plans on pause, but for acclaimed actor Josh O’Connor a crucial change of scenery awaits. For the fifth chapter of the Eye/Loewe/Nature collection, the Spanish brand champions environmental sustainability through a myriad of technical menswear garments and accessories equipped for the great outdoors.

This time, set in the midst of the vast Baja California Desert in Mexico, it’s an energetic, solitary adventure. Captured by Gray Sorrenti, discover a raw vision of escapism under the blazing Mexican sun.

Like always, Loewe builds upon its pragmatic staples. Designed with wanderlust in mind, each look has an air of playfulness as O’Connor wears reassembled technicolour t-shirts, light-weight jackets, and Bermuda shorts with a matching jacket crafted from upcycled military uniforms.

Using recycled Mexican carpets, two newfangled reversible jackets are brought to life, while vintage quilts and converted parachutes create colour-block parkas and loose-fitting hooded jackets. Carrying this sustainable ethos through to the accessories, Loewe unveils a fresh selection of easily packable, recycled nylon bags. Looks come adorned by organic scarves, hats, and shoes in cadmium yellow, taupe and olive.

For every bum bag or piece of workwear sold, Loewe has pledged to donate 15 euros to ‘A CASA for Birds’, a project dedicated to creating semi-natural habitats for wildlife species in danger of extinction. Creative director Jonathan Anderson explains: “a collection devised for diving into nature must be created with a sense of respect for the environment.”

So, whether you’re off to the Lake District for a hike far away from all the coronavirus hoopla, or simply scheduling your next escape – channel your inner globetrotter in this timelessly, functional Loewe look.
