Unexpected but certainly welcome, the Emporio Armani x Our Legacy Work Shop collab is coming soon, available for your perusal exclusively at Dover Street Market. Born from a meeting between Armani designers and the Our Legacy founders on a farm outside Milan, the collection bounces between relaxed leather coats, sharp suiting and oversized flight jackets.
Dapper and dashing but still laid-back, it seamlessly blends the city-centric character of Emporio Armani with the Swedish brand’s distinct experimentation. Deliciously seasonal, the palette draws on warm tones like burnt orange and beige, fusing them with plaid and houndstooth to deliver the ultimate autumnal feel.
Nodding to the ethos of Work Shop – Our Legacy’s creative hub known for its innovative use of fabrics – the collection maintains an artsy feel. With cute, kitty-cat illustrations – nodding to Giorgio Armani’s love for the household pet – painted onto silk scarves and V-neck shirts, the garments have a craftier air than the Italian brand usually plumps for. What unfolds is a capsule that demonstrates the beauty of remixing the old with the new; combining the historically established with the up-and-coming.
Accompanying the release is a multi-media campaign, with dreamy images shot by British photographer Mark Borthwick and a feline-focused video illustrated by Gustaf Holtenäs. Tracking some laid-back pussycats ambling around a city, the video is the perfect companion to the kitsch but cool collection.
