A herd of wild horses, thrashing through crashing waves, galloped their way across giant screens that backdropped the Emporio Armani show. They symbolised a new sense of freedom to the Armani wardrobe; an untamed elegance that featured baggy suit trousers, stone-coloured military coats and couloutte-style shorts worn with suede boots. It was a fitting wardrobe for those looking to escape inner city life. Like pistachio-coloured suits with belted jackets and a straw cowboy hat to match, and crocheted vests that scooped low on the chest.
Other highlights included roomy denim jackets that sprouted with florals at the shoulder and glistening gold tops with ties to match. For the show’s finale, the scent of lavender flooded the space, as couples – consisting of glitzy-dressed Armani women and bare-chested men in leather shorts and suspenders – leisurely strolled, carrying baskets full of lavender with massive smiles on their faces. It marked an uplifting end to a jam-packed day of shows.
