Dsquared2: Ready-to-Wear SS22

Forever a highlight to the Milan Fashion Week schedule, Dsquared2 bowed out of doing an IRL catwalk this season in favour of a fashion film, which was debuted online yesterday afternoon. Like fellow heavyweight Burberry, Dean and Dan decided this season was too risky to stage a real fashion show with the very real possibility that the plug could very be pulled last minute in the face of the Delta variant.

Instead, they chose an abandoned warehouse to stage their audience-less catwalk which was playfully dubbed Fairytale Grunge. Carrying on from the brand’s last collection, Dean and Dan channelled a grittier mood to counteract their usual razzle-dazzle; creating a world where the “delicate is meshed with the tough in textured layers and glimmering detail,” as the press notes read.

Sheer slip dresses, shredded denim and shiny trousers felt like a more grown-up wardrobe than the one you would’ve worn as a Courtney Love-obsessed teen back in the day, met with destressed knits and baggy cargo shorts. The icing on the cake? A series of angel wings, worn by guys, which you’ll actually be able to shop come the summer. Ready to live your ultimate Tinkerbell fantasy? We are too.
