Doechii slaying, Naomi Campbell in full catwalk flow and cameos from Brigitte Nielsen and Tyson Beckford, to Jessica Miller and Isabeli Fontana – Dsquared2 celebrated its 30th anniversary in true, flamboyant Dean and Dan style. From start to finish their Milan mega show was a high camp triumph fusing fashion, music and pop culture as only they can. As a fashion spectacle, it was as entertaining as it gets.
Doechii kicked off the celebrations, stepping out of an armoured tank full of money (no, we are not making it up) before running down with catwalk in sky high heels and hot pants, with Tyson Beckford (dressed as a leather daddy) giving chase.
The collection romped through the Caten brothers’ signatures from lumberjack shirts to low slung jeans, Canadian tuxedos and oversized trapper hats. For evening sharp suiting worn with platform boots for men and dresses with daring cut-puts got everyone in the party mood. Dean and Dan took their bow accompanied by the statuesque Nielsen, dressed as a cop, before Doechii amped up the energy even higher, taking to a podium and letting her rhymes rip.
Dean and Dan, dedicated the show to their hairdresser friend Julie whom they credit for rescuing them from a difficult childhood and foster care when she gave the teenage twins jobs in her Toronto salon and put them on the path to fashion superstardom. Behind the hype, there’s heart. That’s the magic of Dsquared2.
