You know what’s missing from every man’s wardrobe? Clodhopping platform boots in patchwork leathers and bright glitter. That was, at least, the conclusion Dean and Dan Caten leapt to in their Spring 2017 DSquared2 collection, where a pinch of Bowie and a dash of the Bay City Rollers hiked models up on stack-heeled platforms that would give Bootsy Collins a run for his money. Except running in seven inch heels is probably a daft idea. Les Catens designed the Canadian Olympic uniforms this year, so maybe they decided they fancied a break from sportswear and indulge in something a little more extreme? You don’t get much more OTT than a bloke in heels – but, otherwise, it was business as usual, with the clothes playing out as an eminently wearable fusion of Camden punk and the late, great David Bowie. Here’s betting there will be many more homages to come this fashion month.
