Good morning! It’s Day 2 of Mr Garth Spencer’s adventures in the land of New York men’s fashion, more commonly referred to as CFDA New York Fashion Week Mens. So what did our intrepid Executive Fashion Director get up to yesterday?
First up – Coach. Over to Garth: “I officially love Stuart. He’s been showing us around his new Coach HQ on West 30th Street. Totally impressive! The rebellious collection of bombers, bikers and printed bucking broncos are totz MASC. Coach is about so much more than bags. It’s a living and breathing luxury empire. Favourite pieces are the Gary Baseman painted images. They’re comically sinister and mischievous. Perfect for a Hot Rod like me.”
Next up on our whirlwind NY fashion immersion? Assembly New York. Over to Garth: “balance is so important to everyday existence on this planet. Good to the bad, Ying to the Yang. Step over the excess point and you’ll be repenting. Sit another night on your sofa binging on box sets and you might just be forgotten to the world. Same is to be said in frenetic NYC where balance is hard to achieve. Assembly’s nonchalant attitude and effortless style bring balance and calm – especially in this current, very sweaty, heatwave we are engulfed in.”
Yesterday’s adventures in the world of NY fashion ended with Tommy Hilfiger and their special menswear presentation. Oooh. What did Garth think? “I really loved colours. The stronger the colour, the deeper the love. Bold motifs. Red, white and blue colour combos on matching trackies and loose knits. Prepster Tommy Hilfiger knows how the summer works. Especially when it’s hot. It’s like a tidal wave of the Hamptons sprayed all over the models. Can’t wait to wearing the multicoloured hoodie on a paddleboard while waving to Jen Aniston in Montauk. Hey Jen!”
