Céline Pre Fall 18 is the swansong for Phoebe Philo. This feels a bit like the love of your life who broke up with you a few months ago popping up again asking to go for dinner. You, of course, say yes, you go, have the best time, and after an evening together return home and cry thinking about all the lovely things you shared but knowing it really is truly over. It is done. This is it. But you wouldn’t change your last moments spent together.
Now let’s get talking fashions- these are clothes you want. You need. You may die if you don’t purchase at least one of these pieces. OK, that isn’t necessarily true but why risk it? Everything the world has come to love and expect from Phoebe is in this final collection. Quirky (I hate that word but ya know), sexy and chic chic chic. Of course there is the tailored perfection of a suit to rule the world, flared trousers, leathers that appear to be as soft as butter in patchwork coats, shirts, skirts and jumpsuits, hoodies, giant ponchos and elegant knits that dreams are made of.
The look book is naturally shot by friend of Philo Mr. Jurgen Teller and features Binx Walton, Maggie Maurer and Karolin Wolter, who undoubtedly looks very similar to the designer herself, they have the same haircut… coincidence? We think not. Which answers the question that yes, the clothes Phoebes designs are things she does and would wear. We, like so many, can’t imagine a fashion world without Phoebe but god damn we couldn’t have asked for a better goodbye.
