You can’t think about New York Fashion Week without a few iconic names coming to mind, and Carolina Herrera is one of them. Best know for her signature look of a full ballgown style skirt and crisp white shirt, Ms. Herrara has been at the helm of the brand for almost 40 years. But times are changing, and yesterday’s Autumn/ Winter 2018 show will be her last in this role. At age 79, we can see why she might fancy a bit of a rest. Since her Debut in 1980 Carolina has dressed some of America, and the world’s, most influential women. But as she said to the New York Times “I am not retiring! I am moving forward.” Herrera has taken on a new role as global brand ambassador which makes sense, who knows a brand better than the woman who created it? Wes Gordon, who has been consulting with the brand for the last 11 months will take over as Creative Director. It’s always a wrench on the heart strings when the name behind the brand steps down, but we are excited to see how the Caroline Herrera brand evolves for its next chapter.
