David Koma is the new creative director of Blumarine!
The Georgian-born designer, who operates his namesake label out of London, will make his debut for the Italian brand with his pre-fall 2025 collection. This follows the swift departure of previous creative director Walter Chiapponi in March after just one season.
“Blumarine embodies a unique blend of sensuality, timeless glamour and elegance that I always admired, and it is an honour to be able to write the next chapter in the brand’s illustrious history,” writes Koma. “I am excited to celebrate Blumarine’s rich creative heritage while infusing it with my own modern vision. The brand’s feminine aesthetic deeply resonates with me, making this journey feel incredibly authentic. I am eager to craft collections that inspire and captivate our audience, ushering in an exciting new era of innovation and creativity at this esteemed house.”
Known for his red carpet occasionwear and close celebrity friendships, Koma is expected to bring the high-octane glamour of Nicola Brognano’s Blumarine back to life. With an army of fearless women – and men since launching a menswear line in June – already steadfast in their backing of Koma’s own label which finds an extensive design lexicon in audaciously sexy garb, lining up with the Italian brand’s design language. Not to mention, following Koma’s graduation from Central Saint Martin’s MA design course, he held the title of creative director at Mugler from 2014 to 2017. It’s an ideal match.
