September for me has always felt like a new year as opposed to January 1st, mostly due to the fact it meant a new school year – and, of course, a new fashion season. So September 1st seems like the perfect time for Yves Saint Laurent to launch their new men fragrance “Y”. The whole idea of the fragrance name is the word “why” which is quite appropriate in regards to my new years/autumn feelings. Addressing old habits and asking yourself “why”? Especially if those habits include texting someone you really shouldn’t after a drink or two or seeing new fashion walk the runway and thinking “why not?” when I definitely don’t have the monetary funds. Filled with fresh notes of white aldehydes, bergamot and ginger, it’s the perfect smell to start off a “new year” or, as you might text the boy who ghosted you last month but has popped up again: “new scent who dis”.
