What to wear to work when the workplace has changed radically? Boss has been at the forefront of professional chic for decades, cornering the market in smart clothes. But what will Boss’ global community of professionals need in 2021, post-pandemic, while many are still working from home? The brand has clearly thought about this and concluded that the novelty of taking a Zoom call in leggings and an old T-shirt will have definitely worn off by next spring.
A new approach is needed, one that allows people to look pulled together and feel professional without looking uptight. This Boss collection married comfort with interesting clothes and put the focus on fabrics with touch appeal. Drone footage showed the Boss show venue – the cobble quad of a historic palazzo. Outdoor shows are definitely a trend in Milan. Guests, perched on individual, socially distanced plinths, watched as the brand unveiled its SS21 look.
The new suit? Hoodie, satin track pants and duster coat all in the same icy blue shade for him; a trench dress or lean jersey pieces some with peephole cut outs for her. Tomorrow’s power couple have embraced the socks and sandals. Tailoring is still an option but pinstripe formality looks like a thing of the past. In its place are apple green or caramel brown tonal suits, in light, lux fabrics. This is Boss at its best – moving with the times, in tune with its customer’s real lives and focused on giving them stylish solutions.
