Jason Wu is bossing up. Bossed up, even. The boss. BOSS Womenswear SS17 got the old adrenaline pumping. The was a new feeling here. Bold. In your face. In a good way. Colour, quite literally, everywhere. Wu referenced David Hockney’s pool series. “Looking at it, I just think happy thoughts and light thoughts. It’s a classic that never gets old,” he told us backstage after the show. That’s not to say those pieces for the BOSS woman weren’t there. They were. Just enlivened. The volume turned up to ten. Our fav number. Softer tailoring allowed for pieces that moved loosely with the body, that “relaxed” feel. There was something utilitarian about the adjustable straps and drawstrings, then opposed with girlish lace details and delicate organza dresses. And to finish, a touch of good old American athleticism. What would NY be without it? “The Boss girl is going everywhere. This is how modern women dress. There’s a sense of relaxed attitude that you haven’t seen before. It’s new,” Wu told us. It is new. And pretty darn infectious. For the woman who gets shit done, or just wants to drink vodka by the pool. Either way they were on a mission. Moving forward. As is BOSS. Mr Wu is unstoppable.
