Being of German heritage, there are certain things that I can appreciate about BOSS. Subtle nuances that are lost on the English. Nuances not restricted to clothing alone – take, for example, the humble beach towel. In the eyes of most people, its uses are fairly limited. Namely: making wet bodies less wet. That’s great and everything, but in the hands of a German, a towel is so much more. It’s a demarcator of territory, and more specifically, of sun loungers. This might sound like a familiar concept, but nobody reserves a sun lounger like a German and his towel. Believe me, I’ve seen it. It’s terrifying. What does this have to do with BOSS and their 2017 Pre-Fall collection you ask? Practicality. In the eyes of most, this is just an assortment of properly lovely clothes, but my German sensibility is immediately alerted at the sight of those shamelessly simple and versatile fashions. I’m all over it. Those sensible pleated knee-length dresses, the soothing pastel colour palette, the perfectly matched two sets. Is it smart? Is it casual? It’s BOSS babes – it’s whatever you want it to be.
