A fairytale of femininity, strength and individualism characterised Alberta Ferretti’s spring/summer 2024 collection. Framed by the regality and romance of the Castello Sforzesco in Milan, the Italian designer’s 54-look collection focused on fluidity and grace to create blush-coated staples that were both abstract and versatile. Elevating traditional striped shirts with oversized silhouettes, standing collars and panel-heavy shaping, lightweight fabrics like georgette, poplin, linen and silk emphasised themes of movement and effortlessness.
Sheer dresses were tailored with defined necklines, billowing sleeves and complex netting, making them equal parts beach and summer soiree ready. Ferretti’s aptitude for expressive craftsmanship was embodied by a series of ribbon-woven gowns, intended to commemorate the connection between the brand and its customers. Draping and delicate silk cascaded down legs whilst gothic floral prints added an understated edge to mesh dresses in a palette predominantly defined by neutral tones of coral and tan, with intermittent but welcome pops of scarlet. Drawstrings, braided chains and belted waists were included to emphasise the unique styles found through differing expressions of femininity.
Casting saw both seasoned and new faces – Irina Shayk and Mona Tougaard flowed down the catwalk, whilst Christy Turlington’s daughter Gracie Burns made her debut. A delicious display of beauty, womanhood and delicacy, Ferretti’s view of this season was truly lensed through rose tinted glasses.
