We don’t think we’d last very long in the military. It’s not really our scene. We like camo though. And we love Stone Island. That fact is well known. This latest collection sort of fuses the two, leading us to conclude that, if we ever entered some kind of military conscription scenario, we’d insist on wearing the above and below. After desperately trying to get out of it, obviously. Anyway, Stone Island have based their latest Spring 2018 collection on archived military uniforms, from Poland apparently. Well, it’s only two jackets in truth, but they’re very good – hand-painted alligator camouflage which was photographed and then printed onto said jackets and matching shorts. It’s not hard to see why this particular genus of camouflage is no longer operational, but the military’s loss is our gain.
As well as a typical assortment of glorious outdoor wares; high-necked cagoules, hoodies, sweats and the like, other highlights include deconstructed water-proof pullovers with external pockets and possibly our favourite – a double-breasted life-vest bag (see below). We’re not sure the practical benefits extend much beyond those of an orthodox bumbag, but we’re never going to be in the military, so who cares about practicality?
