It’s been two decades since Louis Vuitton and renowned Japanese artist Takashi Murakami first joined forces, and the fashion world is still buzzing. To celebrate, the iconic partnership has been revived with a global re-edition of the Louis Vuitton x Murakami collection – and it’s landing in style with a wondrous pop-up store in Soho, London, running from January 9 to February 9.
Set across two floors, the playful pop-up is as much a conceptual art installation as it is a retail space, with black and pink colour-blocked floors drawing inspiration from Tokyo’s modular hotels. This offers an homage to the original collection’s vivid colours and whimsical designs, blending luxury shopping with a fully immersive experience. It’s not just a temporary store – it’s a celebration of Murakami’s signature ‘Superflat’ aesthetic, brought to life across over 200 re-edition Louis Vuitton’s bags, accessories and rolling trunks.
Among the store’s highlights is the archival module, where visitors can marvel at legendary pieces from the original, seminal collection – released in 2003 under creative director Marc Jacobs – like the Monogram Multicore and Monogram Dalmatien bags, as well as newer additions. And, for those looking to keep their original Murakami pieces looking fresh, there’s a ‘care and repair’ station, where clients can watch their bags get that necessary bit of TLC.
No pop-up would be complete without some fun extras though – and this one delivers. When you purchase any of the re-edition pieces on offer, you’ll receive a special Murakami-designed token. Stick it in the coin slot at the in-store vending machines and out will pop a ball containing limited-edition prizes such as exclusive stickers, collectible trading cards or the Takashi Murakami Flower Go Walk portable game. Plus, there’s a Louis Vuitton x Murakami Café serving up bespoke baked goods and drinks in custom-designed cups and napkins – the only one of its kind in Europe. Enjoy your goodies in the designated film space – a deep-set ‘70s style conversation pit – where you can kick back on Murakami flower cushions and watch two renowned original Superflat movies, digitally enhanced for 2025.
Located at 39 Brewer Street, Soho, the pop-up is open daily from 11am to 7pm – a must-visit for anyone who loves the fusion of fashion, art and a little bit of childlike fun. Don’t miss out on this kaleidoscopic celebration of one of the most influential collaborations in fashion history.
