If the eyes are the window to the soul, the desk, you could say, is the pathway into the mind of the creative. Being the nosy bunch we are, we asked a group of our favourite designers, PRs and friends in fashion to let us inside their offices to see how they work. Expect pristine desks from the finest vintage dealers, the best stationary about, and of course, the occasional bit of clutter. Fashion folk are only human, after all…Today we step into the workspace of Woolmark Prize-winning menswear designer Saul Nash.
10: Where did you buy your desk?
SN: I actually found my desk somewhere around the building [Somerset House]. I like it because it reminds me of a traditional office desk. You even have a slot in it for a landline.
10: Do you like a tidy desk or a messy one?
SN: I love a tidy desk; however, if it stays that way is the question. Often, stuff tends to pile up on my desk.
10: What’s the most sentimental thing you have on it?
SN: I keep pictures of my close ones stuck up on the wall. My favourite one is the Selfridges Christmas photo, which featured my family and friends.
10: What’s the proudest thing you’ve created while sitting at your desk?
SN: That’s hard to say because most of the time I do not really sit at my desk! I spend a lot of time physically making things, but I am very proud of the shoes we customised for SS24.
