JW Anderson’s most recent drop is here to steam up your summer wardrobe. Dropping its Studs (as in beautiful beefcakes) capsule collection earlier this week, vintage photographs featuring scantily clad male models are emblazoned onto a variety of ready-to-wear pieces including t-shirts, hoodies, shorts and vests. Not to mention the hero of the offering which is an apt penis-shaped key ring – aka homoerotic heaven.
Originally debuting a number of the designs as part of the London label’s AW23 menswear and PF23 womenswear collections, the capsule expands on the original offerings, celebrating Pride Month in a brashly brilliant way. By deliberately cutting off the heads of their swole subjects, each piece is predetermined to ensure every bulging bicep and sexy six pack can be seen in all its gladiator-like glory.
Encapsulating the spirit of acceptance that lies at the heart of Pride, the pieces are also adorned with the friendly tagline “Feel Free To Say Hi”. Echoing the contours of the featured bodies, the phrase comes to life through its curvaceous lettering.
Since its *erection* in 2008, Jonathan Anderson’s namesake brand has been pushing the boundaries of brazen, camp and cartoonish fashion. Repeatedly attaining widespread virality with pieces such as their frog-faced clog collab with Wellipets and pigeon clutch bag that debuted for AW22, Anderson has breathed a bit of fun back into the industry, with this collection continuing on his refreshing trajectory.
