SMR Days: Menswear SS24

An effortless yet elevated wardrobe for the beach and beyond, SMR Days made its London Fashion Week debut this weekend presenting a SS24 collection for the modern nomad. As casual and comfortable as always, the London-based resortwear brand entered into a pivotal moment of growth, expanding its universe to encompass new, year-round categories without sacrificing its throw-on-and-go signatures.

Hero styles are reiterated in fresh fabrications like ombre dyed fine, featherlight habotai silks, and kala cottons, loose-weave wool or both, including the Paloma and Cavalet shirts, the Malibu trousers and the Hiri shorts, the Talamanca jacket and the Wittering jacket. Elsewhere open knits and crochet tops, billowing shirts and fluid pants are decorated with North African pattern prints and Jaipur block printing. The collection encompasses both daywear and eveningwear, both with a barefoot sensibility and an attitude that leaves room for adventure. Plus, with SMR Days’ wear-forever ethos, everything is ethically and sustainably produced and 10 percent of proceeds from any turtle-embroidered piece will be donated to the Turtle Conservancy.

Jewellery created in partnership with Luis Morais is reminiscent of the trinkets you might pick up at a local market with multi-hued beaded necklaces based on buoys and chunky chain bracelets featuring beachy touches like gold-plated shells and turtle or palm engraved pendants. The only apparent difference is that these are bohemian luxe adornments, not just seaside keepsakes.

There was also a vastly expanded bag offering, part of an ongoing collaboration with ethical and fair-trade Bangladesh brand Maison Bengal. 22 different functional carryalls are on offer, ranging from capacious weekenders to shoppers, market totes to nifty pochettes in woven jutes and ikat weaves, checks, stripes and diamond prints, all with sand-proof zips. There’s also a sleek sunglasses capsule created in partnership with Prism; each sleek frame enriching the optimism of this 365 day holiday wardrobe. This is a languid wardrobe with a spritz of luxury and levity, made for laid back days, home or away.
