Svelte and sophisticated for the launch of the Versace Icons collection, Academy Award-winning actress Anne Hathaway – Miss Andy Sachs herself – stars in a timeless campaign lensed by lauded photography duo Mert and Marcus. Alongside Chinese singer Chris Lee, an edit of glamorous everyday essentials arrive, drawing on Donatella’s own wardrobe and tailoring know-how, as well as the house’s decades of experience dressing powerful women, from Princess Diana to Michelle Obama to J.Lo – it’s hard to top that tropical green, silk chiffon gown. “The multi-faceted and inspirational women we dress, talk about how Versace makes them feel: considered, confident and stunning,” Versace says. “Just as an Icon should feel.”
In a boned bustier corset styled with jeans (the new tank top), a black jersey dress with Medusa ‘95 medallion detailing on the straps (inspired by the Atelier Versace SS95 collection) and a fitted black grain de poudre “DV” pantsuit (based on Donatella’s own go-to uniform), Hathaway is edgy and unapologetically feminine. Other key pieces include a butter soft black leather blazer and the “Greca Goddess” mini bag – closet staples to be cherished and worn time and time again. “To me, the Versace Icons collection is timeless elegance with an edge,” the actress says. “I’m so proud of these images which seem to represent Donatella’s vision of empowerment.” This spring, the devil wears Versace.
